Custom vs. Commissioned
For a custom order, a customer will request that a new piece be made similarly to an existing piece, but with specific changes, such as to the stem length or style, the leaf type or count, the bloom level of growth, etc. A Commission is a request for a combination of existing exampled items to be made into a showpiece, for an unexampled piece I have not listed (but can buy a pattern for) to be made, or for an example picture or drawing to be developed into a unique, new beaded work. Here I may need to design a new pattern, or purchase, adapt or combine several of someone else's patterns to help me to make the piece you have in mind. Commissions are likely to be costly, but may also be made to a budget by negotiation and compromise.
